Renewable energy is not based on burning fossil fuels (such as coal, oil or natural gas) or nuclear fission - which are the most common energy sources in the world today and their use reduces their limited reservoirs and harms the environment, ecosystems and causes drastic climate change due to rising greenhouse gas concentrations.
